Worked in I.A.S. from 1962 to 1995 (Mah cadre).Thereafter, worked as Director General, World Trade Centre, Mumbai, from 1995 to 2005.

Ph.D. in Commerce.Master's in Physics. PG Diploma from IIAP, Paris, with specialisation in Trade and Economics. Diploma in French. Certificates in German, Italian and Spanish. Diploma in Cartooning from USA. A writer, painter,singer, cartoonist. Published poems too.

Nephew of Veena S.Balachander and vocalist cum painter Mr.S.Rajam.
